Head of Fundraising & Corporate Partnerships
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Los Angeles, CA
FLSA Status: Full time, Exempt Travel Required: Minimal
JOB SUMMARY:
Exciting opportunity to lead strategy and fundraising at a well-established and fast-growing nonprofit organization on the forefront of changing the world through storytelling. Ideal candidate is a seasoned or rising rainmaker with long-term strategic vision, past success in scaling a nonprofit’s development efforts, and a strong network and relationships with foundations, major donors, brands and other potential partners. The candidate should be a flexible team player and have strong communication skills. Must have 5+ years of non-profit development experience or equivalent (for example, a brand sales executive with experience helping startups gain revenue traction who is now looking to transition into mission oriented non-profit work). This position is charged with meeting multi-million dollar funding targets for annual support, cultivation and stewardship of major donors, developing relationships with major foundations, carrying a corporate sponsorship portfolio, and satisfying all partner program objectives. The role will integrate development efforts with all organization functions, including our industry-renowned programs, communications, and special events.
The position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Knowledge of Salesforce preferred. Must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a sense of humor.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Corporate Sponsorship Program Development
Develop and implement a fundraising and business plan and timeline to set and achieve multi-year goals for CAPE’s corporate sponsorship programs
Identify, cultivate, secure and manage a portfolio of prospective corporate partners
Create a slate of partnership offerings, including pricing, benefits and activation concepts that align with CAPE’s mission and programmatic offerings
Identify new corporate sponsorship trends and tools and new creative opportunities for engagement to ensure that our sponsorship program remains competitive and innovative
Cultivate and steward a portfolio of corporate sponsors, building long-term corporate relationships
Create proposals and marketing decks to present to donors
Fulfill sponsorship deliverables, including promotion and recognition of support
Major Foundations & Grants
Develop long term relationships with leading Foundations
Identify, apply for, and maintain grants
Track and complete grant reports as needed
Individual & Major Gifts Donor Acquisition and Retention
Direct strategic fundraising efforts and provide leadership for a robust individual giving program, including annual campaigns around Give in May and Giving Tuesday
Cultivate and steward a portfolio of major donors, including the CAPE Donors Circle
Identify and cultivate prospective donors
Deliver ongoing communication and engagement opportunities to lead to increased investment in CAPE
Execute all pledges, billings, and acknowledgements
Maintain and update donor database
Special Events
Work with the CAPE team and an outside production company to lead the planning, production, and execution of CAPE’s annual Radiance event
Lead efforts on fundraising event sponsorships and donor stewardship for special events
Develop a robust marketing strategy in support of special events in collaboration with the Programs and Communications teams to create brand activations that promote sponsor visibility, CAPE brand awareness, and long-term investment in CAPE
Participate in donor events, including work on evenings and weekends to meet with donors
Communications
Create an Annual Report with a focus on fundraising targets and goals met
Collaborate with the communications team to deliver all communications to corporate sponsors, donors, and the general newsletter audience
Create strategy and assets and manage communications for digital giving campaigns or digital marketing campaigns spotlighting unique brand partnerships
Collaborate with the communications team to deliver all communications for the corporate sponsorship program

Works well independently and collaboratively with others
Must be a flexible team player who can roll with the punches and be willing to do any task, big or small
Must be able to communicate effectively and sensitively with diverse populations and varied audiences through verbal and written/email correspondence
Must possess excellent time management skills and meet deadlines
Should be comfortable with a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment and be able to handle multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions
Must exercise discretion in handling confidential information
Must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, creative, a forward thinker, a problem solver, and intellectually curious
Must be enthusiastic and have a positive attitude and sense of humor
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree preferred
Extensive knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies that span individual giving, major donor stewardship, grant writing, and corporate fundraising. Background in corporate programs in nonprofit or for-profit setting and corporate social responsibility preferred
Experience managing major donors and working with nonprofit boards
Proven track record cultivating and stewarding five and six figure corporate sponsorships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data to multiple audiences
Strong understanding of budgets and finance, including restricted and unrestricted funds
At least 5 years nonprofit development experience, or equivalent
Event production background helpful
Graphic design background helpful
Knowledge of entertainment industry helpful but not required
COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint / Google docs
Knowledge of Salesforce strongly preferred
Knowledge of Squarespace and Canva preferred
ADDITIONAL:
Must be available to work evenings and weekends
Must have access to personal vehicle and maintain valid California driver’s license and minimum required collision and personal injury vehicle coverage
One year commitment

BENEFITS AND SALARY:
Salary & Title commensurate with experience, range $75K-$125K

Under the supervision of the Head of Programs, the Programs Manager will provide comprehensive oversight, development, research, planning, implementation, and evaluation of CAPE’s pathway programs. They will be responsible for ensuring that the planning and implementation of these programs are in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic direction. This role will also oversee digital programs, CAPE’s Programming volunteer task force, and serve as the point of contact for in-person program offerings. The Programs Manager will integrate programs with all organization functions, including development and fundraising, communications strategy, and special events.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pathway Programs
Under the supervision of the Head of Programs, the Programs Manager will:
Develop and execute yearly programs calendar
Execute for each pathway program:
Application period: Application announcement through social media or press release, applicant recruitment with a focus on engaging a diverse applicant pool, referral tracking, answering applicant and submission inquiries
Selection period: Work with CAPE Team and program co-chairs to select finalists, facilitate interviews, and communicate submission status with applicants
Program period: Develop curriculum, facilitate in-person and virtual program sessions, schedule session speakers, plan and execute sponsor events such as orientation and graduation, distribute session and program feedback surveys, schedule press release
Off-season: Maintain CAPE alumni updates and success stories, create program sponsor updates, track alumni talent referrals and requests, plan and host CAPE alumni events, maintain and update CAPE alumni records and internal talent database, and secure program-related partnerships and in-kind donations
Manage program sponsor relations, including fulfillment of program sponsorship deliverables, including promotion and recognition of support
Work with the Head of Programs to develop a multi-year programs calendar and strategy in alignment with CAPE’s mission
Public Programs/Special Events
Under the supervision of the Head of Programs, the Programs Manager will:
Develop a public programming slate of events, including, without limitation, screenings, panels, networking mixers
Oversee the CAPE Programming volunteer task force in implementing public programs
Maintain and update program attendee records and database
Collaborate with the CAPE Team on the planning, production, and execution of special events, as needed
Communications
Collaborate with the Communications department to design and create assets and press releases to publicize program application cycles and announce fellows
Collaborate with Fundraising to deliver all programs-related communications and invitations to corporate sponsors and donors
Work with Fundraising to supply program metrics and success stories for grant applications and reports
Create assets and communications focused on CAPE alumni success stories for social media, corporate sponsors and donors, website, and general newsletter audience

COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint / Google Workspace
Knowledge of Squarespace and Canva preferred

Ability to learn or navigate digital platforms for event ticketing, project management, database, or other projects as needed
